Lake Four #6

Lake Four USFS #6
Estimated Tent Pads: 6

This campsite is over used and had trash around when we stayed at it. There were beer cans in the fire grate, bottle caps, and other random trash. There are 3 pads around the camp area but just 100 feet away are some more clearings that can hold another 3 tents.

The campsite is sheltered from the wind very good, but is right next to some thick forest and the bugs were pretty thick in May. Someone had taken it upon themselves to cut down several trees near the shore (leaving the stumps) and make a sudo duck blind.

At this campsite there was a bull moose skull, jaw, and other bone as well as a snapping turtle shell.

Bear problems!

We would advise you to avoid this campsite. We spent one night there last week and were visted by a large, black bear during the night. It grabbed many of our sacks and drug them in the surrounding woods to go through them looking for food. We kept all our food properly in a tree but it was obviously not a good enough location as the bear climbed the tree and was able to shimmy over and reach a food bag. It appears this bear had done this before and it was not a fun night taking turns staying up to shoo away the bear. Thankfully it was not agressive towards us and just wanted our food.
