Site on a point. A rather poor canoe pull up spot. Lots of good trees and good tent areas. This site is located on a nice point and I have always had excellent shore fishing casting a slip bobber directely out from the point. Lots of fantastic fishing holes within a short paddle of this spot also.

Saturday January 24th 2009I like this campsite a lot. It has a good kitchen area with logs, and a tent site with a 270 degree view of the lake. It not only provides good bobber fishing, but a decent place to swim from as well. This site is usually already occupied if you don't get there early

Monday January 25th 2010I'm looking at a map and don't see that a site is at this spot on the lake. Can you verify? What other camping spots do you like on the lake?

Wednesday March 10th 2010Went 1st week of Oct. 2007? - very mild fall . I loved this site. Fished from rock, water/action left side. One nite strong wind/rain from west so cold but tent site back abit. Could see beautiful sunsets (1 so spectactular I have it framed), northern lights (1). It is just beyond where you would turn right for the Boot lake portage, just before the little island, 1st site. Not alot tree cover but facing the right way. Only time I've camped on Ensign & it was one of my favorite trips.Good luck getting the great site.
opinion of ensign
Friday February 11th 2011looks like a good lake on the map. I cane only compere it to knife lake . Didn't like that carp lake portage much. comments.??? M in NC
