Insula Lake campsites

I'm heading to Insula in mid-June and am looking for info on campsites. There are about 50 identified on Fisher Map #F-31, and I've only been able to get information on 4 of them. We're planning to camp in the northeastern section of the lake for a week and take day trips to fish Insula, as well as neighboring lakes like Cache, Carol, Alice, the Kawishiwi River, etc. Any suggestions on campsites (or fishing spots) are appreciated.

Williamson Island, and the

Williamson Island, and the site just north of there are both excellent.

Buy Mc Kinzie..

Fisher maps are inaccurate and dont help for fishing due to no topography of lake bottom, which is critical on Insula. The north end of lake has many really nice sites, all close to fishing spots. We prefer to stay on Williamson or the site just west on the next island over(less wind). But most sites are 4stars plus in my opinion.Cache is shallow, and you can catch pike in there in the daytime. I seen some really big pike caught just outside or inside the lake if the waters still high enough to paddle through. Walleyes are small, might get lucky now and then. Carol is a bit of a portage, especially after a rain. But the fishing here can be really, really good for walleyes. Troll the trees with crankbaits, or fish 7 foot areas with a wind and you can have a good day. If you plan on seeing the Kiwishiwi River, comit to a daytrip to Fishdance and check out the pictographs. The final portages to Fishdance is a doozy, but worth the time if you have good weather.
Lots of good fishing on Insula. Fish points and the rocks. Make sure you use a leader when using crankbaits, There are really big pike in this lake, and the are not afraid to grab a walleye your reelin in. Its happined to me twice on Insula. And those fish were well over 20 lbs, so if you like pike fishing, Insula is a must go.
I dont want to give away too many secrets, so I prefer to not go into to much detail on spots. There are lots of them so, use your maps to locate texbook spots and you should catch fish.
