We are making our first trip to the boundary waters next summer and are looking for an inexpensive tent that will resist leakage. Any ideas? Or would you suggest investing in a quality tent? If so, what brands?

Good tents last many years.
Wednesday December 3rd 2008Good tents last many years. If you cheap out and buy a low cost one you will regret it if it rains hard. You'll be wet and miserable. I've been there, no fun.
Eureka and Black Diamond are both great tent brands. If you are looking for a great 2 person tent for a good price, you can't beat the Eureka Pinnacle Pass 2xta. It's only $100 right now on Amazon.

cheap and good....hmmm
Tuesday February 17th 2009It's tough to find a tent that is both "cheap" and good in terms of water resistance. I tottaly recomentd Big Agnes products, BA tents are all I use for personal and guided trips and they never let me down, one option you have is to purchase a 1 year old used tent from an outfitter, you will often get a high-end tent for regular prices with just a little use on it. My companys sells tents when they are 1-2 years old with 5-6 (or so) trips on them. These are usually in great shape still and go for a fraction of the original cost..

Hennessey Hammock
Thursday February 19th 2009henneseyhammock.com is the place to find a great deal on a hammock tent. Once you sleep in one you'll wonder why you ever used anything else. My group started using these a few years ago and let me tell you "Best camping invention hands-down" lightweight, easy(real-easy) set-up and more comfort than one man should be allowed. If my wife would let me I'd set it up in the bedroom at home as well. Check them out-you won't be disappointed. Their most expensive model (Safari Deluxe) is only $230.00 which you'd easily spend on a lightweight tent, and the materials they use are top of the line. I own this model and after I bought it and my buddies checked it out we now have 6 in our group and they all roll with the same one!!!!
