Spagettie Makes a great, simple, meal.

Spagetti is easy and light weight to make. Before your trip pour the spagetti sauce on some plastic wrap and place in the dehydrator (or oven set on low with the door open).  Let this dry until it is dry to the touch. Peel it from the plastic wrap and fold it until it fits in a zip lock bag.  Bring spagetti noodles and parmesian cheese.

In camp just heat a small amount of water.  Break your spagetti sauce into small peices and place in the hot water.  It will reconstitue in a few minutes.  Boil noodles, add sauce and parmesian and bingo.

A simple, light, long lasting meal. Who doesn't like spagetti?

Sounds good. I know some

Sounds good. I know some people like going gourmet in the BW, but I'm not sure how they manage the long portages.

Are eating good and portaging mutually exclusive?

Spaghetti sauce

Great tip sinker, I will try it. I have been packing a few bags of the ready made sauce that comes in a mylar bag as opposed to the traditional glass jar. They are one and a half cups each (13.5 oz net) and are good for two people each meal. Just set them in hot water for a bit, But Shane is correct. They take up alot of space and the weight all adds up fast. Your method sounds perfect for my planned solo trip in 09.

Hamburger

Buy some very lean hamburger. Fry it up, drain out as much grease as you possibilty can, then place it in the dehydrator. It will turn small and brittle. Now it's ready to go with. You can crush it up small and reconstitute it with your sauce or leave it whole. It will keep for weeks in this state.
